NSDC PARTNERSHIP
National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) is a not for profit initiative established on July 31 2008
under section 25 of The Companies Act of 1956. NSDC was set up by the Ministry of Finance as a Public
Private Partnership Model (PPP). NSDC PMKVY is one of the most prominent schemes within this partnership.
The aim of NSDC is to promote development of skills by catalyzing and creating large, quality and for profit
institutions. The organization also provides funding for building scalable and profitable training
institutions. It also enables support systems that focus on quality assurance, train the trainer and
information systems. NSDC is that catalyst that provides funding to companies, organizations and enterprises
that provide skill training.
SIPL joined hands with NSDC in 2016, with an objective of skilling 25K youth by 2020 by providing them with
skill training courses. Mapping the manpower requirement in the future with strengths of SIPL, nine sectors
were identified under which training will be done which were IT/ITES, Hardware and Networking, Livelihood &
Vocational Training, Banking, Financial Services & Insurance, Agriculture, Teacher's Training, Marketing and
Retail, Apparel and Fashion Design Tourism & Hospitality and Beauty & Wellness. Once an individual selects a
training center and checks whether the skill they are looking for is offered there, they can start training
for that particular skill immediately. These skills are offered to the students in the form of vocational
training courses.
Once they finish their training, they are applicable to be employed in the field they get trained in.
